BANK STREET RESERVE COMMUNITY CENTRE

There is one house in the Bank Street Reserve. One. House. And that belongs to my ex boyfriend. I believe there is nothing more dignity stripping than measuring the perimeter of your exʼs house, lathered in sunscreen and a broad brimmed hat, as per the excursions request. But that is not what made this assignment challenging. I was asked to design a community centre in the reserve with glass houses and research stations. Communities should feel safe, secure and comfortable, which is why I took inspiration from a geode. Hard and weathered on the outside, but only to protect the precious beauty on the inside.
